Pink Lady® and FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste. FareShare believes that good food should go to people who need it, not waste.
FareShare distribute good quality surplus food to nearly 8,500 frontline charities and community groups across the UK. In addition to providing food, these charities and community groups help tackle the root causes of poverty and provide vital services.
FareShare’s work looks to address two issues: The fact that we waste millions of tonnes of food in this country, while at the same time, millions struggle to afford to eat.
This healthy and nutritious food reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Each week, FareShare provides enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people, including children and families.
Last year alone, FareShare redistributed 54,000 tonnes of food, the equivalent of almost 130 million meals. That’s 4 meals every second!
Pink Lady® supports FareShare
Pink Lady® is proud to have been working with FareShare since 2020. Over the past three years, we have run programmes to raise awareness and donate over 1.3 million apples to charities and community groups across the UK.
In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, Pink Lady® donated 92,572 apples as part of FareShare’s #ActivATE programme. In 2021, stickered Pink Lady® packs were introduced to highlight the partnership and 100,000 apples were donated. The following year, we donated a massive 1 million apples, courtesy of licensee Fruitways, earning us a FareShare Leading Food Partner logo.
As our partnership continues, it is our way of sharing the wow where we can, supporting people at a time when many families are struggling to provide meals to their families.

Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time of year for vulnerable children and families, but even more so this year with COVID-19 creating even greater uncertainty.
There has been a great deal of uncertainty for everyone in recent months, but for the many thousands of vulnerable families in the UK who struggle to afford to the basics, it has created even greater difficulties
Here at Pink Lady® HQ, we believe that every family should have the chance to enjoy their summer as happily and healthily as possible, which is why this summer we were proud to be able to support 11,000 regional charities across the UK through a partnership with FareShare, the UK's largest charity fighting hunger and food waste.
Pink Lady® is sharing the WOW across the UK with a pledge to donate 300,000 apples to FareShare, in a tie-in with its family-friendly PinKids® apples.
