There has been a great deal of uncertainty for everyone in recent months, but for the many thousands of vulnerable families in the UK who struggle to afford to the basics, it has created even greater difficulties

With this in mind, we are very pleased to announce that we are supporting FareShare this summer, an incredible charity that aims to relieve food poverty and reduce food waste in the UK.

In addition to a financial contribution to the charity, we will be providing 50,000 of our delicious Pink Lady® apples to FareShare’s Summer Appeal which aims to combat hunger and malnutrition amongst children and families over the summer and school holidays, when the school meals that form an important part of many vulnerable children’s diets are not available.

FareShare estimates organisations supporting children and families will need at least 40% more food over the summer holidays compared to pre-crisis levels. We will be donating our rosy apples over the course of June, July and August to be distributed by FareShare to charitable organisations and community groups across the country, who are in need of delicious and nutritious snacks for the families they support.

Adele Fash, Commercial Manager at FareShare said: “FareShare is now serving 25% more organisations providing food to vulnerable children and families than it did before the lockdown began, so we are thrilled to have this donation from Pink Lady® apples. Fresh fruit is particularly valuable as we are committed to providing as much nutrient-rich, healthy food as possible for the children and families that rely on these donations.

“With many people facing financial struggles and food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this donation from Pink Lady® will make a big difference to the communities we support and we are very pleased to have them on board.”
