An apple a day brings sweet rewards for this winning doctor
On 25th April, the Mall Gallery hosted the internationally recognised and respected Pink Lady® Food Photography Awards. Richard Perry, winner of the Pink Lady® Apple a Day category, took inspiration from his professional background as an emergency medicine doctor to create a beautiful photo that tells an important story.
Richard created his self-portrait to reflect the value of taking control of your health, explaining that as a doctor he sees a significant number of cases caused or contributed to by an unhealthy lifestyle. Richard commented: “I feel that the old saying 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' encompasses this beautifully and I hope this illustrates that good dietary advice is one of the most valuable tools for a doctor.”
Pink Lady® Food Photography Award Winner, Richard Perry, captures a powerful message within his winning photo for the Pink Lady® Apple a Day category.
The Pink Lady® Food Photography Awards is about recognising and celebrating food photography from all backgrounds. Perry’s recent move into professional photography, comes from a passion for creativity after originally buying a camera as a work-life balance incentive.
Only two years from becoming an emergency medicine consultant, Richard was fully supported by friends and family to pursue and nurture his talent for photography and is now a renowned professional photographer. Richard also commented: “I am truly honoured to be chosen as the winner of the Pink Lady® Apple a Day category and it is an absolute dream to have my photograph on show in such a famous gallery alongside some truly talented photographers.”
