The world’s best photography served up at the 2022 Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year ceremony

As the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year enters its second decade, we’re celebrating the 2022 crop of winning images, showcasing the universal language of food through film and photography. Each year, thousands of entries are submitted from professional and amateur photographers alike, telling powerful stories of food from cultures across the globe.

This year saw the winners being unveiled on Tuesday 26th April via YouTube livestream, while a screening of the ceremony was held at the prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Piccadilly, London. The ceremony was hosted by globally acclaimed chef and co-presenter of UK Masterchef: The Professionals, Monica Galetti, who introduced this year’s spectacular array of captivating images which made the final cut in this year’s categories.

The overall prize went to Indian photographer Debdatta Chakraborty who captured the intimate image Kebabiyana, depicting a man engulfed by smoke as he tends to wazwan kebabs, the popular Kashmiri street food, at a lively street food market – a reassuring image full of warmth and humanity.

The first prize in the Pink Lady® Apple A Day category went to Amanda Farnese Heath for her image Autumnal Woodland Apple Party, which captures a group of children in fancy dress enjoying a selection of sweet treats surrounded by woodland, the blush of the Pink Lady® apples sitting beautifully against the autumnal colours of the scene. Of the image, Amanda said: “I asked this group of children what their ultimate tea party table would look like. ‘Toffee apples and cake’ was their reply. Here, in an autumnal wood in Scotland, I got to work recreating this table for them. Not one apple remained at the end of the day.”

Thank you to all those who submitted to this year’s categories, we hope many other budding photographers out there feel inspired to get snapping and enter next year.
