Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2022

We're pleased to announce entries for the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2022 are now open!

2021 was a record-breaking year for the competition: over 10,000 entries were submitted from more than 70 countries across the world. With over 25 categories, the Awards recognise the great diversity of ways in which food touches our lives.

We’re proud to have been the awards’ headline sponsor since 2011, witnessing the amazing breadth of creativity submitted is a privilege. The Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Awards has received over 80,000 entries from countries across the globe, with the photographer Li Huaifeng, who captured last year’s overall winning image, hailing from China.

2022 sees an important expansion of the Awards with the introduction of Regional Awards as an additional celebration of winners from around the world. And in another exciting development, the 2022 winner of The Claire Aho Award for Women Photographer, launched last year in memory of Finland’s greatest woman photographer, will receive an exclusive trip to Finland courtesy of VisitFinland.

This year’s global judging panel, chaired by legendary food photographer, David Loftus, includes Fiona Shields, Head of Photography, Guardian News & Media, NA Risong, Art director and curator of Inter Art Center Gallery, Beijing, Francis Hodgson, Professor, Culture of Photography, Phillip Prodger, Executive Director, Curatorial Exhibitions, LA and former Head of Photographs, National Portrait Gallery, London and Rein Skullerud, Head of Photo Unit, World Food Programme.

The awards went digital again this year, presented by Fred Sirieix – the much-loved maître d’hotel, best-known for his appearance on Channel 4’s First Dates – who introduced this year’s spectacular array of captivating images which made the final cut in this year’s award categories.

The Judging Panel

Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year has had an illustrious and evolving panel since its first year, from your favourite TV chefs, to famous photographers, creative directors, food retailers and more.

This year’s global judging panel was once again chaired by food photographer David Loftus, joined by Fiona Shields, Head of Photography, Guardian News and Media; Susan Bright, writer and curator; Nik Sharma, Cookbook Author and Photographer; Alison Jacques, Founder, Alison Jacques Gallery; Chef Simone Zanoni, Restaurant Le George, Four Seasons, Paris and Rein Skullerud, Head of Photo Unit, World Food Programme.
