Pink Lady® Spiced Apple Porridge

There’s nothing better on a cold morning than a warming bowl of porridge, and this one only takes 10 minutes to make. This spiced apple porridge recipe puts a delicious spin on a classic breakfast dish – porridge needn’t be bland!

This porridge combines warming spices with Pink Lady® apples for an amazing and healthy start to the day. Pink Lady® apples are beautifully sweet and add a crisp crunch to porridge. Their natural sweetness means you can forego the addition of coconut sugar if you wish.

Pink Lady®apples are the perfect way to give a pop of colour to the oats, and it means that you get one of your five-a-day too!

This recipe also contains mixed seeds for an extra boost – you can buy ready-made mixes or make your own with a combination of pumpkin, sunflower and flax seeds – or whatever you have in your pantry. The toppings are optional but if you have time then it is always lovely to make the bowl look as good as it tastes! The raw apple slices on top will give a nice crunch in contrast to the cooked apple in the porridge.

Full preparation

  1. To make the porridge, core and chop the apple and add to a pan along with the rest of the porridge ingredients.

  2. Bring to a simmer and cook over a medium heat for 5-7 minutes until the porridge is thick and creamy.

  3. Pour into two bowls and top each bowl with some apple slices, a sprinkle of seeds, a dash of maple syrup and a drizzle of cashew nut butter.
