To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fruitways, a Pink Lady® partner who grows our delicious apples in their beautiful South African orchards, donated 20,000 PinKids® apples.

The 20,000 apples donated came from Glen EIgin farm in South Africa, now part of the Fruitways group. They are being enjoyed by communities across the UK 100 years after the Queen’s grandfather, King George V, had been delighted when tasting apples imported into the UK from the very same farm.

We work hard to share the wow with as many people as possible. We hope everyone had a special time celebrating with friends and family over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

Rupert Meikle, Europe and North America Representative at Fruitways, said: “We are delighted to have worked with FareShare to make sure this donation of premium quality PinKids® apples can spread some cheer and make a difference to families that might have been struggling to put fresh fruit on the table over the Jubilee weekend. It’s the perfect way to celebrate our company’s links with the monarchy and the Commonwealth too.”

We are proud to have been supporting FareShare, the UK's largest charity fighting hunger and food waste, since July 2020 throughout their various appeals. So far, we have donated over 214,000 apples reaching 929 charities and our financial contributions have supported FareShare in redistributing the equivalent of over 82,400 meals in the fight to combat hunger and poverty.

“This very generous donation of delicious PinKids® apples from Fruitways will make a huge difference to so many people up and down the country. Our teams delivered the apples to frontline charities to redistribute to those who needed them most in their local communities. Thank you so much to Fruitways for their continued support.” added Adele Fash, Produce Commercial Manager from FareShare.
