This year will be the 12th year running we have been involved in the Virgin Money London Marathon and this year we have teamed up with Kent-based running club Beginners2Runners. Six of its runners will be facing the 26.2 mile challenge dressed in our iconic apple costumes and raising vital funds for local charity, Dandelion Time.

Nominated charity, Dandelion Time, works with vulnerable children and families experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties, often as the result of trauma, abuse and neglect. The charity, based on a small peaceful farm near Maidstone, aims to combat these issues by delivering a practical farm-based therapeutic programme to help those affected to build confidence, self-esteem and a new skill set to contribute towards a brighter future.

Some of the activities on the farm include caring for animals and harvesting vegetables, as well as getting creative with crafts, including clay making and working with wool. With plenty of other outdoor games and opportunities for exercise, Dandelion Time really does create the perfect environment for those in need.

Agnès Reading, Head of Fundraising at Dandelion Time, said: “Our service heavily relies on the support from our community, so we are thrilled that Beginners2Runners, in association with Pink Lady®, has chosen to donate to our charity ahead of the London marathon. “Our Do it for Dandelion initiative allows the local community to assist the charity in a variety of ways. You can fundraise by making a donation, organising events, purchasing our cards and homewares or setting yourself various challenges.

“We are hugely grateful to everyone for their generous and continued support. The talent, commitment and passion that lives within Dandelion Time is thanks to our supporters and those who give their time and resources to make a difference to the lives of others.”

Everyone at Pink Lady®, Dandelion Time and Beginners2Runners wishes the six runners the best of luck with their fundraising efforts ahead of the marathon to support this wonderful charity and hope they smash their running targets on marathon day!
