2020 marks the ninth year Pink Lady® has been the proud headline sponsor of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Awards. This year was undoubtedly its biggest yet!

The competition, which grows each year in prestige and attracts attention from across the globe, is open to professional and amateur photographers of all ages to celebrate the very best in food photography and film from around the world.

This year’s awards took place for the first time via a virtual awards ceremony on Tuesday 28th April at 8pm, on Facebook and YouTube. The awards were hosted by Alex James: musician, food lover and cheese maker, who introduced an array of captivating images which made the final cut in this year’s award categories.

With over 9,000 images submitted from over 70 countries across the globe, 2020 has seen the biggest year for award entries yet. The overall award went to Bangladeshi photographer KM Asad with his powerful and poignant winning image ‘After Exodus’ which depicts Rohingya refugee children in their camp, taken just after the Covid-19 lockdown was imposed.

The top spot in the Pink Lady® Apple A Day category, went to Diana Kowalcyzk from Poland, for her stunning image Caramel Lady, which showcases our beautiful apples gracefully dipped in melted caramel. Judges said her shot stood out for her juxtaposed use of bright and dark colours, which enhanced the subject matter.

Thank you to all those who entered, we hope it has inspired other budding photographers to enter next year’s awards
