Slam dunk!

We were thrilled to host our official launch event of the Pink Lady® basketball court on Thursday 29th July at Joseph Grimaldi Park in Islington, central London.

The event was designed to showcase the newly rejuvenated court – which is now open to the public - and to bring our Pink Lady® fans some feel-good moments. Our Pink Lady® basketball court will be in situ for at least the next five years – giving fans of our apples, basketball and of course art more than enough opportunity to explore this exciting space – whether its to shoot some hoops, take some pictures for the ‘Gram, or simply enjoy some fresh air and the breath-taking design.

British basketball star, Lamar Roberts, hosted a series of basketball taster sessions for the launch event alongside StreetGames and young people from his charity, Right Development Foundation. RDF is a not-for-profit organisation which provides not only basketball lessons, but also facilitates young people getting into coaching. Both organisations play a pivotal role in the nurture and development of grassroots sports within the UK.

The Pink Lady® team were joined by basketball fanatics, people from the local community and members of the public of all ages to learn some new skills and enjoy some coaching from Lamar. There was even a hoop-shoot challenge – which provided a healthy competition to take away a bespoke Pink Lady® x Coco Lom basketball! Attendees were also treated to some very special Pink Lady® snacks – including Nim’s Pink Lady® Apple Crisps, Belvoir Sparkling Pink Lady® Apple Juice and not forgetting our crisp and juicy Pink Lady® apples – the perfect refreshment for ballers old and young.

Artist Coco Lom was also in attendance to see her creative design brought to life. The signature Pink Lady® pink contrasting the artist’s distinctive blue, black and white elements created a vibrant, energising space that has drawn crowds of curious ballers and spectators alike – and now you can get involved too!
