Still in the race - Pink Lady® sponsors Virgin Money London Marathon for twelfth year
For the 12th year running (no pun intended!), we are very excited to announce that we are once again involved with the Virgin Money London Marathon. This year we’re teaming up with Beginners2Runners, a Kent-based running club local to our very own HQ, who have selected six of their members to don the iconic Pink Lady® apple costume throughout the famous 26.2 mile course.
And why are these inspirational runners making the marathon more difficult and challenging by wearing an enormous apple costume across the course? Beginners2Runners will be running to raise money for Dandelion Time, a charity which aims to support children and young people affected by trauma, abuse and neglect, who are also local to the Kent area.
To commemorate our 12 years of involvement with the London Marathon, we are supplying a whopping 42,500 apples at the finish line to offer marathon runners a much needed, natural sugar energy boost as we have done in previous years. For the first time, we are also supplying 2,000 apples at the finish line to the heroic finishers of the London Mini Marathon, a three-mile course for those aged between 11-18. The apples will be provided in finisher bags at the end of the both courses.
