Remove any older self tan with a deep exfoliation. Having a smooth clear base is crucial for the tan to cling evenly to the body. This also removes any traces of oil or wax that could still be lingering, especially on the legs.
Apply a pea size amount of moisturiser to backs of ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and hands. Not over the whole body! This would streak the tan.
Tan your body starting with the tops of the shoulders using Fake Bake Coconut Tanning Serum as you would a mousse or lotion. Wearing the application gloves that are enclosed with the product sweep down the arms towards the hands. Less product towards the hands and wrists gives a natural finish. Repeat this tip on the legs too so nobody will know you’re faking it!
Top tips for those pesky orange patches:
Ever woken up and discovered stained palms and thick build up around wrists? Don't reach for the exfoliator straight away. First thing to do is soak your hands in warm/hot water, this will help start to lift the product. Then work in a salt scrub, this will start to fade the excess colour around the wrist area. Then use a makeup remover wipe over the palms and around the wrist. Finish with a further rinse with a hand soap.
What are the key tips for the perfect Man Tan?
Start subtle! Build up the colour gradually. Adding just a pea size amount of Fake Bake Flawless coconut tanning serum to a daily moisturiser is the perfect start. Work in all over the face blending gently into the hair line.
For gents with a beard or stubble an aerosol can is easiest and the least messy. mists a slight warm colour onto the skin without getting clogged in facial and body hair. Also it doesn't colour the hair. Use a beard brush to remove any excess on the facial hair.
Men these days who choose a spray tan or self-tan at home often find the tan can wear away prematurely if they are exercising. Sweating from cardio and the constant frictions of skin on skin during weight lifting etc. can cause the colour to crumble away in patches. To prolong the tan as well as keeping the skin nourished with moisturiser, use talc sprinkled under the arms and over the chest. Also a little on the joins of the body like the inner arms and back of the knees. The talc protects the tan and avoids tan break off.
